What is Meraki by Hand?
Meraki by Hand is a brand that roots itself in the handmade. The word ‘Meraki’ belongs to the greek language and it translates to “essence of ourselves.” It refers to putting your love, your passion, your soul and your very fibre into something you make - whether it be a piece of art, a product, or a form of creative expression. Here, each piece made has its own story that spans beyond the technique used, and permeates into every aspect of it - from choice of subject and colour to medium and form.
This story began with a desire to preserve the art of true craftsmanship in a world where mass production has made most things feel disposable. Meraki By Hand is not just about making things; but about creating memories and legacies. Every item crafted is born from the timeless tradition of handwork and the belief that the objects that are cherished today should carry meaning for generations to come. The focus is on creating unique, non-mass-produced pieces that serve not only as beautiful functional items but as mementos — heirlooms meant to be passed down, treasured, and loved for years.

We believe in the power of the handmade, in the connection between the maker and the material, and in the value of slowing down to create something truly lasting.
In a world that often rushes to produce more, we’re here to create fewer, but more meaningful things — pieces that carry love, history, and the spirit of the person who made them. These are crafts and techniques passed down through the age old oral traditions from one generation to the next, and in telling these stories and sharing these pieces, the art form has the chance to live on and the craft go forward and grow. Each piece created is imbued with the spirit of its maker — artists whose hands carefully shape, stitch, and refine every detail with intention and pride. The outcomes of each creation are marks of authenticity, character, hard work, passion and skill that set each piece apart from the ordinary.

Meraki By Hand offers a safe haven and resource hub for other makers who believe in their craft to come together and draw from the collective consciousness. A space where ideas are shared, and techniques are taught to those interested in learning and being an integral part of the survival of each art and craft form.
When you bring home a creation from Meraki By Hand, you’re not just acquiring an object. You’re investing in a piece of history, a part of your own story, and an heirloom for future generations. And undoubtedly, these are the things that make life richer, more connected, and truly unforgettable.
